Indigenous and science seem to agree on the fact that reality is different than what we think it is.
I just watched the last episode of How to Change your Mind on Netflix, by Lucy Walker. If you haven’t seen it by all means go watch it. I loved the last episode “how could we make nature and plants illegal?!” So true.
What I talk about in this newsletter, indigenous have known it since the age of times. They use it for healing themselves and understanding themselves and the world. We made it forbidden and decimated them. We heard (and still hear) that it is dangerous. Indigenous use “the medicine” in a very precise way - they use it in a ceremonial context, with respect, with an experimented elder and always in a group. Reality changes instantly. A new way to see the world comes. The Greeks were using psychedelics too.
What strikes me is that science is coming to the same conclusion that what we see isn’t reality.
I have read and wrote about Biocentrism a while ago, I highly recommend it. It is still hard to understand for me but apparently physicists agree that “nothing exists without an observer”. In other words, that spoon you are holding in your hand would not exist if you don’t look at it or you do not touch it. Hard to believe. Remember the matrix with the spoon bending?
I watched the entire 3 hours of this video of science author Donald Hoffman explaining that “Whatever reality is - it is NOT what you see”.
Hoffman says “it’s not me saying it, it’s mathematics. We can precisely say with mathematics that my hand does NOT exist. Everything is ephemeral.”
I am not sure I recommend you watching this video as it’s so long and difficult to understand (it gets really interesting in the last hour). I hear that this Tim Ferris interview of Donald Hoffman is easier to follow but haven’t watched it yet.
We see the world through an “interface” created from our culture and our past.
Nobody sees reality the same way. Change interface (using psychedelics, meditation, move to another country…) and reality changes. Just changing your mood changes your reality. Hoffman said in the video that he meditated 3 to 4 hours a day for the last 20 years just on this simple statement about reality.
Hoffman says when he understood this his whole life became irrelevant. His reputation, his car, his worries. Why? Because everything is ephemeral and doesn’t really exist. Time and space are human created concepts and don’t exist either.
Hard to follow? For me too.
A much easier way to understand this is to watch or watch again the movie “Free Guy”.
If you haven’t seen it it’s the story of an Artificial Intelligence, an “AI” in a video game that “awakens” when he realizes with the help of VR magic glasses that it’s all a game and nothing is real.
I have been immersed in another world in the Yawanawà indigenous village. They are humans so they look like us but their belief system is completely different and you won’t get it unless you participate in one of their ceremonies and spend time with them. Their universe is made of magic as they wear the magic glasses often enough to have a completely different vision of nature and reality.
If you start not trusting reality as it appears to be everything changes. Here is an example I tweeted about yesterday.
One of the most “trusted” source on the planet, the WSJ, writes about a terrific exclusive (from the words of Michael Siconolf, “Investigations Editor”) that Elon Musk would be liaison with the wife Sergei Brin lead to the couple divorce and that Elon and Sergei weren’t friends anymore. Elon immediately replied with a photo of the two of them hanging-out showing how wrong the story was.
Reading the WSJ without more research is just being a blind AI in the video game and the author of the story, Siconolf, is just one of the AIs, a program. It’s understandable, stories like this get audience and sell subscriptions, he just works for the system that pays his salary. When I see this I can’t read old media much and have any trust in it. No need for magic glasses to see that. Some people are afraid of vomiting from taking plants but I want to vomit just by seeing what one of the most “trusted” source does.
What’s the teaching? We need to wake-up like “Free Guy” did.
It’s not only the indigenous we tried to remove from the video game entirely who say it now, it’s also mathematics and physics.
Continue to see the world from another “interface” permanently or stay… a robot, a program in the system.
We definitely live in a simulation.
Great newsletter, Loic. You are finding the right tone and message. Love it 🙌🏼 Rudy
I’m convinced of this phenomenon and one thing for sure I’m doing is living and staying in the moment. Sooo difficult when my husband is so negative 😩
